Flaretite Seal Minimize

FLARETITE - PRONOUNCED RIBS - SHADED SECTIONIn June 2000 , Norm Mathers, President of Flaretite Pty. Ltd released a new sealing device the Flaretite Seal  designed to eliminate leaking flared type fitting joints.

FLARETITE JIC EXAMPLEDesigned some 70 years ago the flared fitting  offered manufacturers and users a cost effective easy to assemble small package size comprehensive range of fittings that has become Globally accepted, expanding from its traditional user base of North America , Australia and Japan to now include other regions like Europe and China.

Evolving higher pressure and more demanding duty cycle hydraulic systems exposed the metal to metal flare sealing face weakness of flared fittings making it very difficult to obtain permanent leak free flared type fitting joints. This has resulted in organizations such as ISO & NFPA recommending “compliant seals”  be fitted to address the resultant Environmental & OH&S issues.

The Flaretite Seal   is a stainless steel stamping, designed with multiple concentric rings. The entire seal is impregnated with a baked –on Locktite coating. When inserted into a flared fitting joint the concentric rings form multiple seals down the face of the flare and the Locktite coating fills minor imperfections. The sealing rings prevent environmental contamination and aggressive cleaning solvents from attacking the seal face and also protect the face from fretting, galling, over tightening and electrolysis. Unlike ORFS fittings Flaretite Seals will not em-brittle, harden & fail like o-rings do.  Flaretite Seals will not fail in a fire like o-rings, this prevents atomized oil from fueling combustion.

Independently tested by Eaton’s Aeroquip hose & fittings division to one million high pressure square wave pulse cycles on badly scored JIC flared fitting faces without failure, this design, which easily installs by simply clipping over the male flare section, makes Flaretite Seals the single best choice “compliant seal”  flared type fitting permanent leak free fix.

Having proven performance with some of the Worlds most difficult to seal flared fitting applications Flaretite is available for use in JIC-37 degree flared type hydraulic fittings,  316 stainless Marine & 304 stainless general hydraulic .

The Flaretite Seal range is currently being expanded to include the following flared fitting market segments which include a copper version :-

JIC 37 degree   : ( Joint Industrial Conference) SAE  J514
JIS 30 degree   :  (Japanese Industrial Standard )
SEA 45 degree : (Automotive )  SAE J512
SAE 45 degree : (Refrigeration) SAE J513

Manufacture of Flaretite Seals is based in Flaretite’s head office in Fenton North America where Flaretite is taken to market via Distributors such as Eaton-Aeroquip and Eaton Wheatherhead sales and service outlets and direct to OEM’s

In Australia Flartite Seals are available via Mathers Hydraulics Pty Ltd.
